Guidelines for Presentations

Oral and poster presentations will be held according to the detailed final program, which will be available on the Symposium website at and handed out in printed form on-site.

Oral Presentations

All presentations will be uploaded onto Symposium computers which use Windows operating system. Microsoft Office (for PowerPoint presentations) or Adobe Reader (for PDF presentations) will be available.

Please bring your presentation on a USB compatible device to the Preview Room at least 1 hour before the start of your session to have an A/V technician upload the presentation to the conference network.

If combining video films with PowerPoint, make sure to check the presentation in the session hall where your lecture is taking place, during a break, at least 30 minutes before the start of the session.

Important note for presentations prepared on Macintosh computers:

In order to use Mac presentations on a PC compatible computer, you need to prepare the presentation according to the instructions below, before bringing it to the Preview Room:

  1. Use common fonts, such as Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana etc. (please note that special fonts might change to a default font when a Mac presentation is opened by PowerPoint for Windows).
  2. Insert pictures as JPG files (and not TIF, PNG or PICT as these images may not be visible when a Mac presentation is opened by PowerPoint for Windows).
  3. Use a common movie format, such as AVI and WMV (MOV files from QuickTime may not be visible).

Please note that VHS Video projection, 35 mm slide projection, and overhead transparency projection systems will not be available.

Two Award Lectures will be delivered on the first day and six Plenary Lectures on the second, fourth, and fifth days of the Symposium.
